mikeeOK so yesterday my wife and I drive up to Santa Barbara along the ocean for lunch. Gorgeous day. Get to where we are going and I can not find a place I want to park in. Parallel park--someone may back into the Kat. Normal park and the cars to the side are too close might ding the doors. There is not a spot far enough away I want to park in. After 35 minutes I find an acceptable spot. Parallel park with a big red curb in front of me and plenty of space behind for that other car to pull out.
Today drive into Malibu. Scared to death one of the motorcycles splitting lanes is going to hit me. Can't find a place to park anywhere same problem as yesterday plus the available spots are all under trees and I won't park under trees because of the sap droppings. Look and 30 minutes later finally find a spot that takes a quarter mile walk to get where we are going -- but at least the Kat is 90% safe from dings.
I love this Kat (2001 Mulholland bought 26 days ago). But I sure hope I get over my paranoia before my wife refuses to go with me anywhere.
Funny thing is with all the paranoia I had a smile on my face the whole time!
OH well just thought I would share hoping some of you may be as nuts about their Kat as I am.
Mikee
PS Does everyone detail their Kat when they get back or is it just me?

BeWareI won't say I don't still take precautions, but once you get the first scratch on it, it will get better. I don't detail the car as soon as I get home but it does get cleaned before it leaves again. Real detailing is saved until just before a show.
ALLEY CATMikee - I think Rich pretty much gave you the info. You will become more 'normal' in time But I must say that when Lethia and I go out for dinner, we like to sit in an area where we can see the car Too many bad people out there.
Island Prowla'Hey Mikee! Hey Cali bro, oh yea my initial fear when I first got my Blue Molly was an overwhelming concern.
See post & great replies from all: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/010487.html

After months of ownership, I seem to have relaxed as more people have a tendency to admire it than hurt it.
Have fun Prowlin' SoCal style.

DUSTIHi Mikee,
how's it goin' ??
I've been there - done that !!
Our 2000 Black which we purchased in 2001 was a 'garage queen' for almost 2 years - NEVER driven in rain, NEVER been uncovered for a period of time etc. until we decided to take it out some more.
We parked it- just like you did - at the most remote place, rain in the forecast - we took one of the other cars etc.

Like A/C mentioned above, it WILL get better in time - we drove it in pouring rain (which almost killed me inside thinking what it would look like when we get back) - just like last weekend - we went to meet other Prowler owners in ATL at a car show - on our way back we drove into a huge downpour - what used to bother the he** out of me,now is: "well I just clean it when I get back" attitude - which I did Sunday morning and it looks like new again (well, almost)

It'll get better........just enjoy it !!

Tytanium-KYou guyz all crack me up cuz it's like lookin' at a mirror image o' meself -- paranoid? Yup! Park 1/4 mile away from any place I am? Yup! Sit inside where I can see it while I eat? Yup! Detail it as soon as I get home from a ride? Yup!
I even park in crippled zones if there simply isn't another spot protected from possible abuse of some kind! Take up 2 parking spaces? Almost always! There's probably a word OR words for people like me--and I've probably heard them! Anyway, YUP! I B az nutz az the rest o' yew!
Ty-K (TiKi to AC)
BeWareTy-K. I would be careful about taking two spaces or parking in Handicap without a sticker or tag. I have seen where people have purposely inflicted damage to vehicles parked like that. The nicer the car the greater the likelihood that someone will attack it. JMO.
